Overview

The name of this trip, LamayuruAlchi Trek, is taken from the two Ladakh’s most popular monasteries- Lamayuru and Alchi, which we will cover in this journey. The tour of about half a month, i.e., 14 nights and 15 days, will cover the various traditions, culture and topography of India. You will explore scenic valleys and passes as well as many ancient Buddhist monasteries. You will be amazed to view nature’s beauty during your journey that starts from Delhi to Leh, Upshi, Lamayuru, Hanle, base of Chokila, Sumdah, Stokpila and Alchi.

Itinerary
  • Day 1 : Arrival In New Delhi
    Day 1 : Arrival In New Delhi

    Once you reach Delhi airport, our representative will guide you to check into the pre-decided hotel where you can relax for the day or explore the nearby sites of Delhi. Stay overnight.

  • Day 2 : Delhi
    Day 2 : Delhi

    After having breakfast, your 2nd day is booked for a Delhi sightseeing trip that includes both New Delhi and Old Delhi sites. These sites include Raj Ghat, Red Fort, Jama Masjid, Qutub Minar, Humayun Tomb, India Gate and Parliament House. Get back to the hotel. Stay overnight.

  • Day 3 : Delhi - Leh (3500M)

    On the 3rd day, you will move towards the airport to board the Leh flight. Once you arrive at Leh airport, our representative will help you to check into the hotel. Enjoy your welcome drink and rest for the day. You may explore the local market of Leh and shop for some coral jewelry and pearls. Also, enjoy visiting the Shanti Stupa – a major pilgrim center for Buddhists. Retire to the hotel and have dinner. Stay overnight.

  • Day 4 : Leh

    Post breakfast, get ready to explore Thiksey Gompa, built in Ladakh’s village. There is a Lord Buddha’s gold-plated statue, called Maitreya Buddha, in this ancient monastery. Thereafter, halt at Indus Valley monastery. Return to Leh and have lunch. Visit the Tsangpo River, where you will explore the striking Stok Palace on its bank. Stay overnight.

  • Day 5 : Leh

    After breakfast, the half-day of your 5th day is booked for exploring Shey Palace; you can view its remains now, though it features a 12m tall image of Lord Buddha in the monastery. Drive for 17km to visit Thiksey Gompa in Leh. Its scenic beauty will spellbind you. Thereafter, visit Hemis Gompa, which is popular for its festival Hemis, which covers two days and features mask dances. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 6 : Leh - Lamayuru
    Day 6 : Leh - Lamayuru

    Finish your breakfast in the early morning and drive towards Lamayuru. On the route, explore Saspol village as well as Rizong and Basgo monasteries. You will get to explore the Buddha paintings, rock-cut temples and cave at Saspol village. Thereafter, visit Rizong monastery, called the “paradise for meditation”. It has very strict standards and rules. Basgo monastery showcases a Buddha statue and murals. Once you reach Lamayuru, check into the hotel and relax. Enjoy walking around and treat your eyes to its scenic beauty. Have dinner at the hotel and stay overnight.

  • Day 7 : Lamayuru - Upshi (3450M)

    After having breakfast, it's trekking time to Upshi. Walk downstream. You will get to visit few stupas as well as prayer flags after around 30 min walk. Trek up to the small gully’s bottom. Trail to 3770m Prinkiti La. After moving through this pass, you will descend to reach Upshi. Walk around to visit the nearby attractions and retire to the tent overnight.

  • Day 8 : Upshi - Hanle (3750M) 5-6 Hours Trek

    After breakfast, start trekking with heading to Fanjila upstream(3300m) on the bank’s right side. After about 2 hours trekking, you will reach at Hanle, where you find a group of houses. From the Ripchar Valley’s north-east region, Alchi’s main trek starts. You will also get to cross the Pechora river. Retire to the camp at Hanle to stay overnight.

  • Day 9 : Hanle - Base of Chokila (4900M) - 4-5 Hours Trek

    In the morning, continue trekking to the valley following the mainstream. While climbing to this pass’ top, you will get to see the amazing Prinkiti La. Have dinner and halt at the camp of Base of Chokila to stay overnight.

  • Day 10 : Base of Chokila / Sumdah (3900M) 4-5 Hours Trek

    In the morning, continue trekking to Sumdah. You will witness a small Gompa and an isolated village on the route. Only two monks reside in this monastery and it comes under the jurisdiction of Hemis. Thereafter, below in Sumdah, you will reach at a ruined monastery. Stay overnight at camp there.

  • Day 11 : Sumdah - Another side of Stokpila (4959M ) 4 - Hours

    Wake up early in the morning and climb to a valley situated at the village’s north-east side. You will trek next to the side of a small tributary. You will also find an uneven but flat region, which will be used for camping. The trek will get difficult as there will be some giant steps shaped in the past glacial age. When you reach the other side of Stokpila, you will get to see the Temisgam Trek. Have your dinner and stay overnight.

  • Day 12 : B.O. Takpila - Alchi (3150M) 4-5 Hours Trek

    Today you will have to trek for 4-5 hours to reach Alchi. When you move through the village, continue your descending journey to the road turning right. You will reach Alchi’s monastery. Every year, thousands of tourists reach Alchi to witness the breathtaking iconography of this popular low lying monastery. You will also visit Saspol and Likir. Check into your guesthouse and relax. Stay overnight.

  • Day 13 : Alchi - Basgo - Leh
    Day 13 : Alchi - Basgo - Leh

    After having breakfast, move towards Leh. On the way, you will visit many tourist attractions of Alchi and Basgo. Explore the ancient monastery of Alchi, established during the 11th century. Choskor (the religious enclave) is renowned as the treasure of ancient Buddhist art. Also, explore the historic ruins at Basgo. Reach Leh and check into the hotel and take a little rest. Get back to the hotel and stay overnight.

  • Day 14 : Leh - New Delhi
    Day 14 : Leh - New Delhi

    After having breakfast, move towards Leh airport to board the Delhi flight. Our representative will guide you at the Delhi airport and help you to check into the hotel. Have your dinner and stay overnight.

  • Day 15 : Delhi Departure

    Check out from the hotel and get shifted to New Delhi International Airport and board the flight for home destination.
