Overview

Orissa textile and Tribal tour of 16 nights and 17 days covers the Orissa’s major tourist attractions as well as the tribal destinations. At first, we will take you to explore a few popular workshops and help you learn the dyeing, natural printing and weaving techniques. Then, you will explore the magnificent Bhubaneshwar monuments. Thereafter, we will take you to North Orissa villages to understand the natural dyeing and weaving. To meet the tribal people and know their lifestyle and traditions, we will take you to Southern Orissa.

  • Day 1 : Arrival In Delhi
    Day 1 : Arrival In Delhi

    When you arrive in New Delhi, our representative will meet you and help you to check into the hotel. Stay overnight.

  • Day 2 : Delhi - Bhubaneswar
    Day 2 : Delhi - Bhubaneswar

    After having your breakfast, you will move towards New Delhi Domestic airport to board the flight for Bhubaneswar. Once reached Bhubaneswar, check into the hotel and have lunch. So, your second day of Orissa textile and Tribal tour will start with exploring the Bhubaneswar city. Bhubaneswar is known for its richness in heritage and etiquettes. At first, explore the Odisha’s greatest tribal museum, where you will find an incredible collection of handmade wares and artifacts, which are pretty valuable and beautiful. After this, explore the magnificent Jain caves- the Khandagiri and Udayagiri caves. Here, many Jain monks reside in these caves. You will find 33 rock-cut caves here. Stay overnight.

  • Day 3 : Bhubaneswar - Nuapatna - Sadeibareni - Dhenkanal
    Day 3 : Bhubaneswar - Nuapatna - Sadeibareni - Dhenkanal

    You will get to understand Double Ikat weaving at a popular textile village, Nuapatna. Here, you will learn the procedure at one of the famous workshops. Thereafter, start your journey to Dhenkanal and halt at a small village, Sadeibareni, famous for Dhokra Craft. You will get to spend the evening at Joranda Ashram with its sadhus and attend the rituals there. Enjoy retiring at the traditional Dhenkanal Palace.

  • Day 4 : Dhenkanal - Sambalpur

    Have your breakfast and get ready to move to North Odisha. Visit Sambalpur Textiles, which are popular for its unique printing. Sambalpuri sarees are popular all over India for their elegance and beauty. You will also get to explore the temple of Huma. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 5 : Sambalpur - Barpali - Bargadh - Bolangir
    Day 5 : Sambalpur - Barpali - Bargadh - Bolangir

    Your 5th day is booked for Bolangir journey. On the way, you will stop to learn the popular Tusser Silk weaving technique at Barpali and Bargadh. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 6 : Bolangir - Pushangia
    Day 6 : Bolangir - Pushangia

    After having breakfast, explore and learn the popular natural dyeing techniques and printing at Sagarpali and Sonepur. Get back to Bolangir and stay overnight.

  • Day 7 : Bolangir - Pushangia

    Post breakfast, it is time to explore the magnificence of Southern Odisha. We will move towards Pushangia by car and meet Malia Kondhs there. Maliah Kondhs practiced human sacrifice earlier, which has been substituted by pig or chicken sacrifice later to make the goddess happy for good crops.

  • Day 8 : Pushangia

    Your 8th day of Orissa textile and the tribal tour is scheduled for exploring the Malia Kondhs villages. The women of Maliah Kondhs adorn their faces with tattoos, which resemble the tiger’s whiskers. As per them, this is to puzzle the witch doctor who otherwise would change them into cats in the later night. You will be surprised to see the beauty of the villages. Get back to your camp and have dinner. Stay overnight at eco huts.

  • Day 9 : Pushangia - Chatikona Market - Jeypore
    Day 9 : Pushangia - Chatikona Market - Jeypore

    After breakfast, drive further to Southern Odisha. On the way, halt at Chatikona market, the popular colourful weekly market. You can visit this market on Wednesday only. After that, you will get to meet Dongoriyas, or the hill people and DesiaKondh tribe, who come to sell products in Chatikona market. The dongarias weave a particular kind of shawl, which is very beautiful and popular. They use vibrant colors to make it unique. After that, we will meet Kuvikondhs and Mali people in their villages. Stay overnight at the hotel.

  • Day 10 : Jeypore - Onkudelli Market - Jeypore
    Day 10 : Jeypore - Onkudelli Market - Jeypore

    Now, you will drive to Onkudelli, which is around 75km away from Jeypore. Onkudelli is a Thursday weekly morning market where you can find vegetables, fruits and a very strong alcohol prepared by locals. Also, meet Gadabbas and Bondas, who sell these products. Get back to Jeypore. Stay overnight.

  • Day 11 : Jeypore - Kunduli Market - Rayagada
    Day 11 : Jeypore - Kunduli Market - Rayagada

    On the 11th day, you will move to Kunduli, about 60km drive, famous as amongst the largest markets for vegetables and local spices in South Odisha. Here, you will get to meet Paroja tribes. Later, meet Kumbhars at Peta. Move to Rayagada and stay overnight.

  • Day 12 : Rayagada - Jirang - Gopalpur
    Day 12 : Rayagada - Jirang - Gopalpur

    Post breakfast, move to Gopalpur on Sea. On the way, stop at Jirang to visit the Tibetan Monastery. Stay overnight at Gopalpur.

  • Day 13 : Gopalpur - Mangalajodi - Puri

    Have your breakfast and move towards Puri, the holy city. On the route, enjoy the boat ride on Chilika backwaters and get to see the rare migratory birds. Continue your Puri journey and stay overnight.

  • Day 14 : Puri - Konark - Puri

    After having breakfast, visit the popular Sun temple in Konark. You will also observe the fishermen catching fish near the beach. Enjoy riding on rickshaw on the popular Grand road of Puri. Stay overnight.

  • Day 15 : Puri - Bhubaneswar - Kolkata

    Post breakfast, leave for Bhubaneswar domestic airport to board the Kolkata flight. Once reached, meet our representative and check into the hotel. Stay overnight.

  • Day 16 : Kolkata

    Have your breakfast and start your Kolkata journey covering St Paulos Cathedral, Victoria Memorial, Indian museum, Birla Planetarium, Nakhoda Mosque, Pareshnath Jain temple, Kalighat temple, Belur Math, and other art museums. Thereafter, visit Mother Teresa orphanage. Get back to the hotel and stay overnight.

  • Day 17 : Kolkata Departure
